Enjoy the banter below: BA / Q&A PREMIER: When did you start training to become a tattoo artist? BA: I started my apprenticeship early 2019. I was tattooing towards the end of that year. PREMIER: How long have you been working at Meeting House? BA: 3 years. PREMIER: Has the BA initial thing ever caused people to confuse you with legendary skater, Brian Anderson? BA: Unfortunately not haha. That would be an honor. PREMIER: What’s your favorite subject to draw right now? BA: As of lately, I've been tattooing a ton of pinups, but always been intrigued by most traditional imagery. PREMIER: What and who do you look toward for artistic inspiration? BA: I typically look at older tattoo imagery and try my best to keep the integrity of those designs. Two people that mean the most to me in tattooing is Bob Roberts and Ed Hardy. PREMIER: How many cups of coffee can you drink before a session without it affecting your steady hand? BA: I have trial and errored this for years. I have one iced americano before my first appointment every day. Nothing more nothing less. PREMIER: Which artist gave you your favorite tattoo? BA: Hard one to choose but I might have to go with my back piece. It was done by Martin Kazan. Finished it up a year ago. PREMIER: Least favorite (no bullshit). BA: Shit I’ve got a few doozies. Wouldn’t ever cover them though. Well maybe for the most part. PREMIER: Favorite spot to tattoo on people and why? BA: Not sure what is my favorite but I will say that a back piece and the top of the hands are the biggest honor for me to tattoo. PREMIER: How many of your skate clips are pop-shuvits? BA: Feels like damn near all of them sometimes haha. PREMIER: You grew up in Ionia with some Michigan skate legends. Any stories how they impacted how you came to be? BA: Definitely. Being a very young kid and watching Jackson Casey skate and film the other skaters from my hometown and the guys he’d bring there honestly was the reason I was hyped on skating at all. Happy I can call him a friend all these years later. PREMIER: Is it true you would hit up the BK lounge out there daily just to kick it? BA: Yeah that’s where all of the homies would just hangout and steal soda, buy mids from the parking lot, and loiter in between skating. PREMIER: I hear your brother is obsessed with WWE? BA: Big time. I grew up getting suplexed on a trampoline. PREMIER: We hear you are laying off the chocolate milk? BA: I wish it wasn’t so but milk ain’t sitting right for me lately. PREMIER: In your spare time I hear you play Call of Duty, what’s your K/D? BA: I try to get in a few rounds every week. I can’t keep up with these kids anymore though. Probably a very bad one. PREMIER: We know you’ve been bulking at the gym. What’s your max squat weight? BA: 3000 PREMIER: Best road trip. BA: Driving out to New York with all my friends PREMIER: Top 3 music artists. BA: Slint, No Trend, I hate myself Share Share Link Close share Copy link Back to blog
